| Meet our Faculty Hiding in Plain Sight Look closely—or look twice. Gotcha! That scruffy stocking cap or faded windbreaker may be warming a Unity College faculty member. Their flannel shirts, well-worn cords, frayed gloves, and muddy boots look just like yours. But their credentials are top-notch. More than 60 percent hold the highest degree in their field. And their professional networks connect them with a broad range of remarkable colleagues around the region, across the nation, and all over the world. Their expertise and love of teaching dissolves your classroom walls. Professional Colleagues Dr. Aimee Phillippi, marine biology instructor, won two grants in early 2006 to monitor the Asian shore crab in Acadia National Park. By summer, she had enlisted Alyssa Marvel ’09, adventure education leadership, and Meg Anderson ’09, wildlife care and education, in the project. Their study serves as the baseline for future scientists charting Asian shore crab effects on green crab populations in tidal zones.
Unity College faculty members set exceptional examples for professional work. Then they challenge you to expand your world, consider new viewpoints, and collaborate with peers in programs outside your own field of study, just as they do. Our faculty are dedicated and demanding academics, exceptional mentors, active environmental leaders, professional colleagues, and earthy environmental enthusiasts. They make Unity College the best place for you to learn—and grow. |
