in Maine.

Interested in Sustainable Living?
This summer live and learn on 175 beautiful acres in rural Maine at the Ravenwood Homestead. Put into practice ecological concepts and alternative solutions you may have heard of, but have never had the chance to try. During the three-week sustainable practices summer program, you will learn about:

• Small-scale organic agriculture
    • Wild edibles
    • Bee keeping
    • Raising chickens
    • Wholesome and healthy cooking
    • Composting
    • Passive solar design
    • Photovoltaic systems
    • Energy conservation techniques
    • Bread making in an outdoor oven
    • Simple living skills
    • Greenhouse growing techniques
    • Measuring your ecological footprint

 

ES 2886 Sustainable Practices and Voluntary Simplicity (6 credits) 

Cost: $2,400

One $1,000 scholarship
to be used towards tuition is available. The recipient of this scholarship will be chosen based on a one page essay describing what value the recipient hopes his/her Ravenwood experience will have once the course is completed.

Deadline for submissions is June 14th. The winner will be notified by June 18th.
