The Unity IDEaL: Institute for Developing Leaders

...are you IDEaL?

At Unity College new students can make a difference...in fact, we demand it.  The Unity IDEaL is a leadership institute specially designed for first year students who've shown leadership potential very early in their Unity College careers.  Mix and mingle with folks who've been where you're going.  Maybe even former Governor of Maine, Angus King!  Work on your own leadership style in IDEaL workshops--maybe you didn't even know you had a leadership style.  Well, you do.  Trust us.  Engage your new community through the choicest community partners and projects like "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs," New Orleans Hurricane Relief, and of course, The Unity Barn Raisers Trail Crew.  This program is presented in partnership with the MELMAC Foundation.

What do past participants think of The Unity IDEaL?  See for yourself.

“After completing this IDEAL course I feel as though I participate in more leadership roles whether in discussion or projects.  I find myself more comfortable completing tasks asked of me where I have to initiate the activity. “

“Working in my Sustainable Landscape Horticulture Experience course I have taken a leadership role in trying to help develop Mill Island Park so that it is more community friendly...it feels like I am making a difference in that class.”

  • “I believe that participating in the Unity IDEaL class has definitely given me the confidence to take leadership roles in every aspect of my life. The project which I was involved in took a lot of painstaking hours but in the end, I realized that I had the ability to make things happen.”
