Adventure Education Leadership CENTER for ENVIRONMENTAL AND EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION Adventure Education Leadership majors are concerned with providing healthy forward motion—in minds, bodies, and society. They are attuned to the relationships between the self, others and the natural world. They work for and teach balance between the three.
Adventure Education Leadership majors are naturally comfortable in groups and in new situations, and are well spoken. They are active, critical thinkers and also reflective. They like to be physically and mentally challenged and to be tired at the end of the day. They consider success a group activity, not the work of a single individual. They look at challenges and obstacles from positive and productive angles and are adept at drawing diverse types of people into conversations and activities that result in healthy growth experiences for groups and individuals.
Is this you? Could you walk away from your MP3 player and email for weeks at a time? Are you inspired and excited by collaborating? Would you describe yourself as team player? Can you also easily take charge? Are you interested in helping people make connections with the environment and other cultures? Are you an educator at heart? Does it give you a sense of satisfaction to see others push themselves to new levels of accomplishment? Are you able to view people and situations with compassion and an open mind? Are you physically active and emotionally aware? Would you consider organizing a two-day rock-climbing trip for teens at risk a great assignment?
If yes, an Adventure Education Leadership major is for you.
