Aquaculture and Fisheries CENTER for NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND PROTECTION Aquaculture and Fisheries majors are advocates for building a sustainable future for fish, shellfish, reshwater and marine algae, and the waters in which they inhabit. They study freshwater and marine environments in detail. They also focus on controlled cultivation and harvest of natural produce of lakes, rivers, streams, and oceans. They embrace research and identification and learn management techniques of fish and invertebrate populations.
Is this you? The Bachelor of Science program in Aquaculture and Fisheries combines the tradition of preparing fisheries biologists and fisheries technicians for federal, state, and private agencies and conservation groups with education in the multi-faceted aspects of aquaculture. Our students are sought by employers and graduate schools because the curriculum provides opportunities for students to become proficient in basic biological and physical sciences while giving them theoretical and practical exposure to the fields of aquaculture and fisheries sciences. Students also develop an appreciation for the intricacies of aquaculture production, fisheries management, and fish pathology.
