Teacher Education Partnership

Unity College and the following partnered schools acknowledge our joint interest in developing quality teachers for the future of education. Cooperative partnerships between schools and colleges not only strengthen the public schools but also provide professional experience for pre-service teachers.

  • Allow Unity College to use MCI as an observation and research site for students and faculty.

Employee Policy:
Eligible employees at participating partner schools may take classes at Unity College at a tuition rate equivalent to the graduate per-credit hour rates set by the University of Maine, Orono. Currently, this rate is $357 per credit hour. Only tuition is reduced in this agreement; the cost of fees, books, and other materials associated with enrollment remain the full responsibility of the enrolled individual.

Eligible employees may register only in regular undergraduate courses on a space-available basis. They may enroll any time after the final day of pre-registration and prior to the first day of classes. Application will be through completion of the “Special Student Application” form available at the Registrar’s page on the Unity College website. Payment will be expected according to the normal schedule as published in the Unity College Catalog. Undergraduate courses may be taken for credit, but will not be applied toward a Unity College degree unless the individual becomes a fully matriculated student of the College.

Eligible Employees: Only those currently employed, in an instructional capacity, by the educational institution with which we have a formal memorandum of understanding to provide placements for students in the Unity College Teacher Education Program.

Student Policy:
This program will allow up to nine student participants each semester from partnered schools to enroll in one course per semester on a space available basis. Students may register for any 1000 or 2000 level course (with any prerequisites fulfilled) between the last day of the pre-registration period and the first day of classes. A tuition fee of $50 will be charged per semester. Only tuition is reduced in this agreement; the cost of fees, books, and other materials associated with enrollment remain the full responsibility of the enrolled individual.

Eligible Student must be juniors or seniors currently enrolled in the institution of which Unity College has formal memoranda of understanding with. Participants must provide Unity College partnership program application, a letter of recommendation from the guidance counselor, and a high school transcript (with written evidence of top 25%) to the Registrar at Unity College prior to enrollment.

Records:
Academic records will be held in the Registrar’s Office at Unity College. Transcript requests must be made in writing, including the student’s signature, to the Registrar’s Office. Students that participate will receive college credit for their course work and gain access to their college transcript upon receipt of their high school diploma

Questions regarding enrollment should be directed to the Registrar’s office.  You may contact Holly Hein, Registrar at (207) 948-3131 x244, hein@unity.edu.
