Nova Wilderness Orientation Program
Nova trips are designed to support the transition to college life at Unity by emphasizing personal growth, building social connections, and promoting environmental stewardship. Nova trips are small group wilderness experiences that include:
Students can expect to be actively involved with all aspects of the trip including planning, cooking, decision making, risk management and other camp related responsibilities. All new students are required to participate in Nova because it fosters significant growth and makes for a smooth transition into life at Unity College.
Students who do not complete the program prior to their incoming year will be required to make it up during next semester. Students who believe they may not be able to complete the program in their first semester must contact the Director of the Outdoor Adventure Center prior to the start of Nova in the summer to apply for a deferment or exemption. There are only certain and limited types of situations that qualify a student for deferment or exemption.
