Canoe Fishing on the Moose River

Prior Experience Required: No, though fishing experience is helpful
Exertion Level: Moderate-Strenuous

Remote, pristine…and full of fish!

The Moose Bow Loop is a scenic canoe trail connecting Attean Pond, Holeb Pond, the glorious Moose River and Number 5 Bog—a National Nstural Landmark.  It is an excellent example of one of the many canoe trails maintained by Maine’s Bureau of Parks and Public Lands.  Many students are treated to their first moose sighting while paddling these waters.  Open water paddling and a significant portage make portions of this trip challenging but it is well worth the effort!
Travel will be paced to allow for plenty of fishing opportunities—spin casting and fly fishing are both welcomed.  Trout, land-locked salmon and togue are among the species you’ll find here.  You will need to purchase a State of Maine fishing license and provide you own gear and artificial bait.  For more information on purchasing a State of Maine fishing license, please check out the following website: http://www.maine.gov/ifw/licreg/index.htm

Dates Offered:
July 13th – July 18th
July 20th – July 25th
