Primitive Skills (Basecamp)

Prior Experience Required: No
Exertion Level: Mild

We’re excited to be partnering with the Maine Primitive Skills School (www.primitiveskills.com) to offer this unique Nova experience.  Camden Hills State Park will serve as the scenic basecamp for this trip.  The focus will be on learning and practicing a variety of primitive skills: including wilderness awareness & tracking, shelter building, and fire making.  Camden Hills is home to Mt. Battie, a mild day hike with sweeping views of Camden, Penobscot Bay and a horizon lined with spectacular islands.  Though we will have the use of modern gear (tents, camp stoves, etc) during the trip, you will build a knowledge and skills base for surviving without these amenities.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in a service project to benefit and preserve the park.

Dates Offered:
July 13th – July 18th
July 20th – July 25th
