Western Maine – Dog Sledding

This trip will be based out of the Outward Bound base in Newry where we will stay in a rustic cabin heated by a wood stove.  We are happy to be partnering with Mornington Crescent Sled Dogs (www.sledpets.com) once again to offer this trip. During this experience participants will have the chance to learn the basics of a classic winter activity—dog sledding.  You will also have the chance to explore some of the western Maine’s beautiful and scenic trails during a day hike—another winter favorite!

In addition, participants will learn basic winter camping and travel skills, how to prepare nutritious meals on a one-burner camp stove, and how to practice low impact camping techniques.  Students will also engage in a service project.
