Alumni Weekend is just around the corner, and with it comes a topic important for all – alcohol consumption and personal safety. In the past few years there have been several amendments to the Maine Liquor Laws. Depending on when you graduated, the Maine state laws and College policies may have changed a little or a lot. The Waldo County Sheriffs Department and State of Maine are serious about ensuring adherence to liquor laws. However, Unity College and the Unity College Alumni Association hope to make every alumni event fun and safe, and therefore, ask for your cooperation in making each event safe and successful by abiding the policies listed below.
Maine State Laws: • No one under the age of 21 may handle, posses, or consume liquor or imitation liquor. • No one under the age of 21 may transport alcoholic beverages. • No driver under the age of 21 may operate a motor vehicle with any alcohol in their bloodstream. • It is against the law to provide alcohol to a minor or to provide a place, such as a residence or motor vehicle, to consume alcohol to a minor. • It is illegal to drink or possess an open container of alcohol in any public place. Please note that the above laws are not the only State of Maine liquor laws. Please check with the state if you need further assistance. Please drink responsibly.
