Alumni Association Meeting

1. Minutes Due to the length of time since an official meeting was recorded, the September Annual Meeting minutes were approved.
2. New Business Kate reported that the online alumni community, also known as NetDirectories, has really been popular with alumni. The online community was launched at the end of September, during Alumni Weekend. During the first half of the fiscal year 2008 (July – December 31), 49 new alumni who had not been automatically entered asked to be a part of the community; 287 alumni have logged on; 1 alumni has logged in 22 times; 203 alumni created an additional bio; 30 created mentor bios; and 70 alumni verified their information. Kate mentioned that these are great statistics, but alumni should continue to use the online community as a way to stay connected to the school and to other alumni. Kate also hopes that more alumni will become mentors, as the Career Resource Center will begin use the community as a tool and will send students to the mentor section. In order to encourage the student and alumni connection, it would be beneficial to have more alumni mentors. The Advancement office is really happy that alumni are using the community and hope to reveal community module additions in the coming years.
Kate reported that there are many alumni gatherings and event opportunities in the next few months. She hopes alumni attend as many of the gatherings as possible. Information is mailed to alumni within a certain radius, but the alumni calendar also has information. Watch the calendar for updated event details. The Association will host an event in April as an introduction to the Association for seniors. Please see below for the event schedule.
Matt reported that he and Neil have been working on a framework plan for the Association. This plan is designed to build future participation and longevity into the organization. He hopes to have a draft by the beginning of February, but will send the draft to officers when it is complete.
Neil asked all officers, if not already done, to send in donations for the FY08. Neil wants to have 100% participation from all officers.
Neil mentioned that the officers will have a retreat sometime soon. March seems to be the best month, and all officers will mail each other with the best dates. Neil hopes to have a campus liaison to help the officers through the retreat.
3. Other business It has come to the attention of the officers, that one officer in particular has not been able to fulfill the position’s duties. Neil has been unable to contact the officer by phone or by email for several weeks, if not months. Craig motioned to send a letter to the officer asking the officer to step down from the position, as the officer has not been able to fulfill duties. Monica seconded the motion Motion passed (4 yes, 0 no, 0 abstained)
4. Tasks Officers will schedule a date for the retreat Neil will contact a campus liaison for the retreat Matt will send the Association draft to officers when complete
