Dr. Emma Creaser
Associate Professor of Marine Physiology

I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology at Exeter University, Britain, where I was born and raised. For my senior thesis, I studied habitat preference by the burrowing brittle star Acrocnida brachiata.  After graduation, I moved to Tampa, Florida to do a Ph. D. on echinoderms with Dr. J. Lawrence and Dr. L. Robbins. I became interested in the process by which echinoderms, especially sand dollars, constructed their intricate three-dimensional skeletons.  I am particularly interested in the proteins which are found in these skeletons and how they might shape the skeleton. Recently, I have been examining the skeleton of Psolus, an armor plated sea cucumber.

I am the program coordinator for the newly approved program of Marine Biology. In this program, students will learn the practical and theoretical skills necessary to be successful Marine Biologists by taking such courses as Marine Biology, SCUBA, and Oceanography.

This year I am teaching:
In my classes I often give writing assignments. These assignments will not be accepted unless the correct scientific writing and referencing format is followed. I have listed my format instructions in detail for you to follow:
