Ecological Identity Explored in Presentation by Dr. Constance Lasher on

College announces a presentation on The Theology of Ecological
Identity by Dr. Constance Lasher at 6 p.m. on February 7 at the
Unity Centre for the Performing Arts, 42 Depot Street (off Route 202) in
Unity, Maine. Dr. Lasher is Associate Professor of Theology and
Environmental Studies at. St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine.
The presentation is free and open to the general public. It part
of the Lapping Lecture Series, a new lecture series at the Unity Centre
for the Performing Arts sponsored by Unity College. The series is named
in honor of Dr. Mark Lapping, former Interim President of Unity College
and distinguished Professor at the University of Southern Maine.
Following her initial career path as an experiential educator and
senior adventure leader for Outward Bound, Dr. Lasher renewed her
explorations of the myriad connections between religious practices and
human identification with nature. Her current scholarship focuses on
extending awareness of Pope John Paul II’s teaching on humans and the
environment. Dr. Lasher will explain how the human search for spiritual
identity is a necessary step in creating real understandings of our
ecological relationships with nature.
