Empty Bowls fill up food pantry

UNITY (Dec 9): Unity College and its community partners, including Unitel and the Unity Barn Raisers, hosted the 12th annual Empty Bowls fund-raiser Thursday, Dec. 7, to benefit the Unity area food pantry and People For People, two area organizations dedicated to local hunger relief.

The candle-lit, community fund-raiser was held at the Unity Centre for the Performing Arts. Admission was free and open to the general public. A donation of $10 was encouraged.

Diners enjoyed a simple meal of bread and soup served in bowls donated by Unity College pottery students and area potters. Diners could keep the handmade bowl they used for their meal. Unity College students joined area volunteers to serve the repast.
