FUTURE MSAD 3 elects new board members

UNITY (Feb 27): Dot Quimby of Unity and Doug Van Horn of Freedom have been
elected to the FUTURE MSAD 3 board of directors.
Quimby was librarian at Unity College for more than 35 years and received an
honorary doctorate from the college. She holds a BA in Psychology from Bates
College, and a MLS from the University of Maine. A resident of Unity for more
than 50 years, Quimby is retired and is active in Unity town affairs. She has
two sons, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Van Horn is Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Unity College. He holds a
master's degree from Bowdoin College, and has taught math for more than 35 years
to students from kindergarten to college to adult education. He has worked in
public schools, alternative schools, prep schools, colleges and as a private
tutor. Van Horn operates a fresh-pack organic wild blueberry business in Unity.
He and his partner, Leslie Stein are parents of daughters ages 17 and 23, as
well as twin adult daughters.

individuals to our board," said Steve Bennett, chairman of the board of
directors. "Dot Quimby and Doug Van Horn each bring a wealth of talents,
strengths and experiences to our organization, and as we proceed with this
historic capital campaign for SAD 3, we are grateful to them for their
commitment of time and expertise."
FUTURE MSAD 3 is a nonprofit organization run by a board of 16 community
volunteers. The mission is to raise funds to enhance particular areas in the new
Mount View School complex not covered by state funding. FUTURE’s current
$575,000 capital campaign will fund the Mount View Performing Arts Center.
FUTURE has $126,000 left to raise to meet the campaign goal.
