The Unity Foundation is the major sponsor with many local businesses participating.

Executive Director for the Unity Barn Raisers Tess Woods noted that the annual golf tournament is an important source of funding in support of many programs and initiatives to benefit the town of Unity and surrounding area.

“We have enjoyed outstanding support from the town and Unity area sponsors, and we expect to continue adding sponsors right up to the tournament,” said Woods.

Despite the importance of the tournament fundraising, golfers of all ages and skill levels find something for everyone. While the tournament features good competition and skilled players, the field is varied with the overall emphasis on fun.

“This is a really fun tournament that gives me a great opportunity to interact with members of the greater Unity area community,” said golfer and Unity College Associate Director of College Communications Mark Tardif.

The environmental college on Quaker Hill in Unity is not known for producing stellar golfers.

“Each year I find myself playing with Unity College teammates who spend more time observing and discussing wildlife, flora and fauna than yardage to the hole,” quipped Tardif. “Environmental analysis while golfing is the price that a golf enthusiast pays for working at an environmental college.”

“If Unity College can field several teams of faculty and staff, then find a way to successfully play through 18 holes, that tells you right there that this tournament is special.”
