Wild Game and Local Foods Dinner, Sportsman’s Conference April 14 at Unity Centre for the Performing Arts

Unity, Maine – March, 2008 -- The 2nd Annual Unity College Sportsman’s Conference and Wild Game and Local Foods dinner at the Unity Centre for the Performing Arts (UCPA) from 4 – 10 p.m.  The event was organized and sponsored by members of the Unity College Archery Club and Conservation Law Enforcement Club, with special assistance from Associate Director for Admissions Joe Saltalamachia and Director of the Unity Centre for the Performing Arts John Sullivan.

The schedule of events is:

4 p.m. – 5 p.m. Art Show and Appetizer
The art show will consist of bronze sculptures and fully mounted animals.  Artists from across Maine will be displaying their work.

5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Organic Wild Game Dinner
The dinner includes organic wild game meat served with locally grown vegetables, along with rice and pasta in exotic dishes.

7 p.m. – 10 p.m.  Seminar With Three Guest Speakers and Recognition of Safari Club International

Bob Humphrey – award-winning outdoor writer and photographer.
Lee Kantar – head deer biologist for the State of Maine.
Dr. Randy Eaton – scientist, researcher on hunting, and author who has published 13 books and 115 journal articles.

Recognition of Safari Club International -- Unity College will be recognizing the Safari Club International, a hunting advocacy organization, for their role in championing wise conservation practices.  “The conservation efforts of Safari Club resonate with Unity College and our environmental mission,” said Vice President for College Advancement Rob Constantine.  “This organization is also very supportive of Unity College with support for both scholarships and some of our sustainability initiatives.  The Unity College community is grateful for this close association with Safari Club International.  It is an association defined by warm affinity and mutual respect.”
