Unity College Announces Recycle Fest Activities on April 19

Unity College is planning a week of activities related to Earth Day on April 22. A full day of activities called Recycle Fest will take place at the College on April 19.  The general public is invited to attend.
From 8 a.m. until Noontime, a demonstration of composting, recycling and sustainable fuel car show featuring grease powered cars / hybrids / and electric cars  will be held outside Koons Hall.   Members of the general public with sustainable fuel cars are invited to participate.
At noontime a slate of free concerts featuring Maine musicians will begin at the outdoor Amphitheatre.  The concerts will feature performances by members of the Unity College music club from noontime until 2 p.m.  From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the bluegrass classic rock band The Nectaroons will perform.
The band JP and The Other Two, an acoustic rock band from Bangor, will perform from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The final band, Gristlestick from Farmington, will perform from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The day of activities is a testament to the initiative of two Unity College students, Chris McGrath and Justin Blouin.
“We wanted to organize a day that would bring not only the Unity College community together, but welcome the greater Unity community to our campus for a day of education and fun,” noted McGrath.
Unity College is a small private college in rural Maine that provides dedicated, engaged students with a liberal arts education which emphasizes the environment and natural resources.  Unity College graduates are prepared to be environmental stewards, effective leaders, and responsible citizens through active learning experiences within a supportive community.
