Unity College to Premiere Documentary Film on Tennessee Tornado Relief A documentary film about a disaster relief trip to tornado ravaged Tennessee that was produced by Unity College Associate Professor John Zavodny will premiere on Monday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Activities Center on the college campus. The showing is free and open to the general public. “This film tells the story of the Humani-Ram-Itarians, a group of Unity College students that participate in disaster relief efforts,” explained Zavdodny. “The group was formed shortly after hurricane Katrina and twice visited New Orleans to aid in hurricane relief efforts.” The group takes its name from the college mascot, a Ram, and throws in a bit of community spirit, hard work and good cheer. Mix it up and you get the Humani-Ram-Itarians. The efforts of the Humani-Ram-Itarians are in keeping with the core value of civic engagement that characterizes the spirit of Unity College. Zavodny plans to submit the documentary to the Maine International Film Festival for consideration. Unity College has recently entered into a partnership with the Maine International Film Festival to enhance the summer film festival and will be sponsoring a day of environmental films at the Waterville site and Unity Centre for the Performing Arts. Unity College is located at 90 Quaker Hill Road in Unity, Maine. Unity College is a small private college in rural Maine that provides dedicated, engaged students with a liberal arts education which emphasizes the environment and natural resources.
