Who Says Turkeys Don’t Like to Fly?  Social Turkeys Pay Visit to Unity College, Demonstrate Flying Skills

Who says turkeys don’t fly?  A small flock of turkeys paid a visit to the Unity College campus on Monday, January 7, and in so doing put to rest any question as to whether they are reluctant to fly.

“The flock of turkeys has been flying back and forth around campus today,” said Mark Tardif, Associate Director of College Communications.  “I’ve seen turkeys plenty of times, but never seen a flock fly quite so high or often.”

Getting a running start to fly seemed important to the big birds

Tardif and his co-workers are unsure what attracted the gobblers, though it is unlikely they will be quite so curious in the near future.  “We’re currently on winter break so the campus is quiet and few people are around,” said Tardif.  “Next week everyone is back and spring semester begins.  I doubt we’ll be seeing that flock demonstrating their flying skills in this majestic a fashion when the campus is brimming with activity.”
