WALDO (Sep 2): With winter just around the corner, come learn how to reduce your energy bills with solar hot-water systems and energy-saving tips for homeowners. This program, part of the annual meeting of the Waldo County Extension Association, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Waldo County Technical Center on Route 137 in Waldo. Light refreshments will be served.

Two Unity College professors will present their personal experiences with installing solar hot-water collectors in their own homes and at the “Unity House” on campus. Doug Fox and Dave Potter have had a full year of experience with solar hot water and will talk about installation, energy savings and the initial cost of their units.

Come learn what resources UMaine Extension has to offer and learn from others about how you might be able to save energy and money using new technologies. There will also be a brief business meeting for elections of new members and officers and a review of the 2009 budget.
