Unity College Supports 2nd Annual Operation Game Thief “Harvest Fun Shoot” Unity College is supporting the 2nd Annual Operation Game Thief “Harvest Fun Shoot” on Saturday, September 12 at the Hermon Skeet Club on Blackstream Road in Hermon, Maine. The 50 target, 10 station sporting clay shoot will begin at 10 a.m. there will be target variations including standard size, midi size, mini size, rabbits and battue. An afternoon flurry shoot will be held and feature 30 targets thrown at random intervals with 2 shooters per round. Registration is $50 per shooter entered in both the 50 target sporting clays and the flurry shoot. This entry fee also includes a ticket for one of three raffle items including a Smith & Wesson pistol, prize turkey call or framed print. Proceeds will benefit Operation Game Thief, a private, non-profit organization that works with the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Warden Service to pay rewards to citizens who turn in poachers. Six students from Unity College will be participating and serving as volunteers to the event. “Unity College has been a supporter of Operation Game Thief for over a decade,” said Tim Peabody, Associate Professor and former Colonel of the Maine Warden Service, and a Unity College alum. “The environmental mission and hands-on learning that takes place at Unity led to our ongoing involvement with and support of Operation Game Thief. We hope for a good turnout and exceptional shoot to support this worthy cause.” Unity College is a small private college in rural Maine that provides dedicated, engaged students with a liberal arts education which emphasizes the environment and natural resources.
