Former Wall Street Executive Joseph Galli Appointed Annual Fund Director at Unity College
Unity, Maine – January 11, 2011 – Unity College has announced the appointment of Joseph Galli as Annual Fund Director.
The position is made possible through the generous support of the Unity Foundation.
Most recently Galli served as an independent marketing and branding consultant for a number of for profit and not for profit organizations.

The balance of his professional career was spent in high profile positions on Wall Street, including serving as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Branding and Advertising with Lehman Brothers Inc., of New York, New York. He also served in several senior positions at Neuberger Berman Inc. of New York, New York.
“On Wall Street my experience really was building and expanding the market position of established brands from the ground up within the financial services industry,” Galli said. “There are direct parallels between my Wall Street marketing experience and the task of building a strong Annual Fund for Unity College.”
Galli was recruited to head up corporate marketing at Lehman Brothers after they acquired Neuberger Berman. The goal of the newly created position was to build a worldwide marketing organization and develop programs to serve both internal and external constituencies. Over time the endeavor added tremendous value to the Lehman Brothers brand, which is precisely the objective and goal for Galli as Annual Giving Director at Unity College. Galli approaches his position from the personal standpoint of having transitioned from a for-profit position to serving in the not-for-profit sector.
“Unity College is young, vibrant, and is achieving national and international recognition on issues related to sustainability and global environmental concern,” Galli explained. “There is a strength of purpose within the community, track record of achievement and commitment to its environmental mission that helps Unity College to be poised to benefit greatly from a strong annual fund.”
His interest for and commitment to environmental causes and sustainability led him to co-found Morton Hill Inc., in Linconville Center, Maine, after leaving Wall Street in 2007. He converted a former dairy farm into a landscape tree farm and bird sanctuary.
“It is very satisfying to be serving this small environmental college at this important juncture in its history,” Galli explained. “There is the opportunity for those who are committed to the environmental mission of the College to create a legacy of giving that will impact generations to come and help this planet to be sustainable.”
His passion and interest in the success of the College is only matched by his commitment to environmental causes.
“Though the audience is different, the mission and goals of the College remain parallel to my prior experiences of building strong brands within the community, defining segmented audiences and developing targeted programs to raise capital. In combination with my years of building strong teams and managing client, vendor and prospect relationships – the position is a perfect match,” Galli said.
Unity College is a small private college in rural Maine that provides dedicated, engaged students with a liberal arts education which emphasizes the environment and natural resources. Unity College graduates are prepared to be environmental stewards, effective leaders, and responsible citizens through active learning experiences within a supportive community.
