Waterville, Maine – Downtown Waterville will host the second Annual Hill ‘n the ‘Ville festival at Head of Falls near the Two Cent Bridge from noon – 8pm on Saturday, September 13th. This event will feature nationally known talent including State Radio, Ryan Montbleau and other musical acts such as The Brew, Calypso Soldiers and The Headrights. The goal of this event is to welcome area college students to Waterville by providing an opportunity for them to interact with the community and each other. Despite less than cooperative weather, the first annual Hill ‘n the ‘Ville hosted last September was a tremendous success, drawing an audience of over 1,000 college students and community members. Organizers of this year’s event have widened the scope of the festival by working more closely with all the local area colleges and stepping up the caliber of talent by featuring nationally known acts.
State Radio (featuring Chad from Dispatch) will be Headling the 2008 Hill 'n the 'Ville Festival on Sept. 13th in Waterville State Radio is an alternative rock band from Boston, MA, consisting of former Dispatch member Chad Urmston (lead vocals, guitar), Chuck Fay (bass) and Mike Najarian (drums). State Radio ranges from a mixture of roots reggae and rock to punk. The band has successfully built a loyal fan base around the country and is largely known for its outstanding stage presence, frequent encouragement of audience participation and unforgettable live performance. State Radio will be performing in conjunction with the Democratic National Convention on August 27th. Ryan Montbleau has been generating undeniable buzz around the country with his water-tight lyrics and unmistakable voice. His rapidly growing fan base is passionate about the honest emotion and shining talent expressed in his music. The Brew has recently been voted the Best Opening Act by the Bruce Hornsby Fan and appeals to rock, funk, jam, jazz, reggae and pop enthusiasts alike. It has been said that their music summons the spirits of artists such as Peter Gabriel, Queen and The Police. Also featured at the 2nd Annual Hill ‘n the ‘Ville are the Calypso Soldiers and The Headrights. Calypso Soldiers are a dynamic 7-piece Maine-based band that blend classic rock, funk, country and blues to create a memorable listening experience. Made up of incoming seniors at Colby College, The Headrights won the 1st place honor at last year’s Battle of the Bands hosted at the Waterville Opera House.
