Link to LIVE webcast MPBN to Webcast Concert by Strangefolk Live at the Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts this Saturday at 8 pm Maine Live! heads to the central Maine town of Unity for a concert by the Vermont jam-band Strangefolk on Saturday, November 22 beginning at 8 pm at the Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts. Not only will MPBN be streaming every note of the show from this intimate venue, within a couple of days we'll have it posted right here in multiple audio formats for listening at your convenience. Strangefolk started out as an acoustic duo in 1991 and added bass and drums the following year. They've pretty much been on tour ever since, adding a keyboard player in 2000 and releasing four studio albums and a live CD in their 17-year career. Strangefolk is part of a generation of bands that not only allow taping and distribution of their live shows for strictly non-commercial purposes, they even encourage it by posting recordings of past concerts on the band web site (where incidentially you can hear lots of recordings made during their numerous previous trips to Maine) and even providing audio connections directly off the soundboard. Beginning 10 or 15 mintes before 8 pm this Saturday, MPBN will establish an audio link from inside the venue and post a link to it both on this page and on the MPBN.net homepage. Note that the audio will be encoded using Windows Media Encoder, which means that to access the live concert stream, you'll need to have Windows Media Player on your computer. Post-concert audio will be made available in multiple file formats, however. MPBN would like to thank the band, the venue and the concert's promoter for allowing us to bring this live concert in Maine to a potential worldwide audience!
