Unity students in the lab

History

Unity College Woodsmen’s is one of the oldest running club sports in Unity College history. Unity’s Woodsmen’s team was established back in 1973. The team is self had ledgers that indicated there was an active club. Around 1975 or 1976 the woodsmen’s team started to gain strength again as Grant Estell (Professor), and Jerry Howe were the faculty sponsors. Thanks to them they got a team together and competed in the 1976 spring meet at Paul Smith's College. For a number of years Grant Estell ran the club as the advisor/ co-advisor.  Another faculty sponsor to acknowledge for the success of Unity College's Woodsmen’s team would be Pat Clark (Associate Professor/Vice-Chair of the Department of Instruction and Advising Services).

Pat Clark

She was a loyal fan of the woodsmen’s team for many years until she finally could convince the college that she would be a great faculty sponsor for our club. As a team we would also like to acknowledge Mike Davis on his devotion to our club, and his outstanding love for our sport.

Thanks to Pat, Gant, Jerry and Mike we have an excellent, out going club that is going to be here for many years to come. You can see in the Unity College Quimby Library the success of our Unity College Woodsmen’s Team. We couldn’t do it with out the great support from every.

On behalf of the Whole Unity Woodsmen's Team we would like to say Thank You!
