Willard Climbing Wall
Introduction
The Willard Climbing Wall (WCW) is a 30+ foot climbing wall comprising of seven top ropes and many bouldering routes. A few of the amazing features at the WCW is the geometry of the curved surfaces, the natural rock texture and feel, and the dynamic routes which makes each climb unique. The WCW welcomes all students and staff ranging in any experience level. WCW instructors are to help assist in techniques, belaying, and offer climbing clinics to advance your skills. The WCW helps engage student’s mind, body and spirit in a meaningful and challenging activity that promotes safety, student leadership, and hands-on experiential learning.
History
The Willard Climbing Wall was dedicated in the memory of Steven Willard (1962-1997). Steven graduated from Unity College in 1984 with a degree in Outdoor Recreation. He was an avid rock climber and brought character and integrity to the campus community. As a tribute to his climbing passion, his parents made a donation to the climbing wall and it was dedicated to him on September 9th, 2005.
