- Climate Policy with Pete Didisheim: Unity College Trustee Pete Didisheim is the Advocacy Director for the Natural Resources Council of Maine, the state’s leading environmental advocacy organization. At NRCM he provides strategic, legislative, and management direction across a broad range of environmental policy issues – including energy policy, climate policy, north woods protection, water quality, and toxic pollution.
- Wind Power in Maine Communities: Unity graduate Steve Swartz '10 has worked collecting wind data across the state to access Maine’s viability for non- commercial wind energy projects. He currently works for Green Sun, a Portland based company that designs and builds practical alternative energy solutions.
- Should Nature Have Rights? Addressing Climate Change by Driving Sustainability Into Law: Chad Nicholson works for the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF) in Maine building sustainable communities by assisting people to assert their right to local self-government and the rights of nature. In Maine, CELDF has worked with citizens in Shapleigh and Newfield to pass rights-based ordinances prohibiting corporate water withdrawals in those towns.
- Students for a Just and Stable Future is a student-led, volunteer network leading the way towards bold solutions to the climate crisis. This student driven group is well established in schools across Massachusetts and is working to start a network of students in Maine. - Edible Plant walk – Get outside and join the Unity College Primitive Skills Club in a walk through Unity’s trails to identify wild edibles. Save yourself a trip to the grocery store – harvest your next meal from the forest floor.
