We highly recommend students buy the commercial or professional grade PC so it will last more than a year or two.
Our recommendation for students is that their PC have the following minimum characteristics:
Current (less than 12 months old)
Minimum 1GB RAM with XP, 2GB with Vista
Have a CD-RW
Wireless card capable of operating in 802.11g mode.
Windows XP professional with Service Pack 2.
The student will need Office 2007 Pro for course work.
Both Windows XP professional and Office 2007 professional are available for students in the Unity College bookstore at significantly discounted prices.
