The Associate of Arts degree, emphasis in Liberal Studies, provides the greatest possible choice to the student in the design of his/her academic program.
A.A. in Liberal Studies
This degree program provides exposure in the traditional liberal arts. A student may concentrate heavily in one academic discipline, or he/she may design a program with considerable breadth in course selection. The Associate of Arts degree is designed to facilitate entry into a baccalaureate degree program.
What You Will Study
Many courses in the Liberal Studies program integrate other disciplines for cross-study purposes, helping you to consider solutions to human-natural systems in your coursework. As a student in our program, you will gain the fine-tuned skills and knowledge to become an experienced environmental problem-solver.
In addition to liberal arts foundation courses from our Environmental Citizen Curriculum, you will have the opportunity to study and specialize in population, community, and ecosystem ecology; cell and plant biology; animal physiology; and genetics.
All environmental science courses have an outdoor lab component in which you’ll learn in various nearby natural settings and then continue the learning process in the lab using modern equipment and technology.
