Nova trips are designed to support the transition to college life at Unity by emphasizing personal growth, building social connections, and promoting environmental stewardship. Nova trips are small group wilderness experiences that include:
- A wide selection of outdoor adventure activities
- Community-building games and initiatives
- Discussion circles (often accompanied by delicious camp cooking!)
- Service projects that provide students a chance to give back to the wild and scenic places they’ll be exploring
Students can expect to be actively involved with all aspects of the trip, including planning, cooking, decision making, risk management, and other camp-related responsibilities. To learn more about who you'll work with on your Nova trip, read about our Nova student leaders. All entering students are required to participate in Nova, because it fosters significant growth and makes for a smooth transition into life at Unity College.
Trips and Schedules
All entering students are enrolled in the Unity Experience Course, which begins with the Nova adventure-based orientation trip. Summer Nova trips are scheduled each week from late July through late August. Winter Nova trips run during winter break just before classes begin.
