During the course, we will be exploring the rugged and beautiful Camden Hills State Park. You will be surrounded by mountaintops and views of the ocean, and the park will be your home as we explore the peaks, valleys and streams it has to offer. Trained staff will teach you the skills to be a competent winter backpacker. You will summit Mt. Megunticook, Bald Rock Mountain and Cameron Mountain. Weather permitting, you will also snowshoe and cross country ski. We will be hiking two miles in to a rustic cabin. This cabin has a wood stove, a few bunks, and an outhouse. Participants will need to be able to carry their equipment as well as group food and gear, which can add up to as much as 60 pounds. All food and group gear will be provided. The menu will consist of wholesome and delicious foods. We will spend time learning outdoor cooking and living skills, including Leave No Trace principles. We will also participate in a service project to benefit and preserve the park.
