Dorothy Webb Quimby Library

Quimby Library links Unity students with the world of information and knowledge. Students make frequent use of the library for research, group or quiet study, or to simply relax with a favorite newspaper or magazine. Access Quimby Library resources and services online.

The World at Your Fingertips

On site, Quimby houses a collection of more than 50,000 volumes selected to support Unity College's unique curriculum, and subscribes to more than 400 scholarly and general-interest periodicals. In addition, through Quimby you have access to Maine's Minerva consortium, Maine InfoNet, and OCLC/Lyrasis, putting a wealth of resources at your fingertips. Quimby Library also serves a number of area towns, so its holdings include a selection of general fiction and children's books.

Support and Resources

Our librarians work closely with faculty and students to support information literacy on campus. The library is open more than 80 hours a week during the academic year, and friendly, knowledgeable staff are always on hand to answer questions. Library services include multimedia equipment lending and orientation for faculty, staff, and students; informal instruction on the use of library resources; general reference services; and interlibrary loan.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Quimby Library is to provide services and to coordinate programs and collections which support and reflect the purpose of the institution. By providing access to information resources, the library contributes uniquely to the definition and implementation of the College's academic priorities and goals. It performs this function by providing materials in various formats for use by students and faculty in their studies, instruction and research. In doing so, it takes into account the fact that learning is a multifaceted and continuing process that encompasses diverse tools and methods. The Library strives to be an active element in the teaching-learning process of the institution. The Library is central to the College's identity as an intellectual enterprise. As an educational resource, the Library extends its services to students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community.
