Fall 2014 New Student Orientation Schedule

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  
Welcome Reception for Arrivals - Enjoy coffee, juice, and some locally grown snacks.
Outside Dorothy Webb Quimby Library (meet in the Student Center in case of rain)
Registration for all Students (including commuters) - All students check in at the library, receive their information packets, and have the opportunity to learn about other student and local services (banking, health, etc...).

“Welcome Home" - Residential Students
Students check into their rooms, meet their resident advisors and roommates, and move in.
Residence Halls
10:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Lunch - Enjoy a large spread featuring many Maine-grown ingredients. Choose from your favorite deli meats and vegetarian sandwich fixings as well as salads and desserts. Wyman Commons
  Unity College Convocation - Building a Beacon  
1:00 - 1:45 p.m.   Welcome Address - Dean for Student Affairs Gary Zane introduces the incoming class to the unique qualities of the community that they are joining & the Executive Team. Tozier Gymnasium 
Convocation Address - President Stephen Mulkey presents the exciting vision for the growth of Unity College.
The Entering Class of 2014 - Provost Michael Evans officially receives this year's entering class, and offers advice on academic success.  
   
1:45 - 2:15 p.m.   Tree Planting Ceremony - Students take part in an annual tree-planting ceremony with Gary Zane and Student Government Association President John Karycak and poetry reading by Michele Leavitt. Tree will be planted between Wood Hall and Activities building
2:30 - 3:30 p.m.   Parents' Program - Information session introduces members of the Unity College administration and staff who will answer questions from students’ families and friends before they leave for home.  Tozier Gymnasium
2:30 - 3:15 p.m.   Residential Student Program - Get to know your Residence Advisor (RA) and explore the challenges of residence hall life. Residence Halls
Commuter Student Program - Find out more about the ins and outs of living off campus, college resources to enhance your collegiate experience, and network with non-traditional students. Dorothy Webb Quimby Library
3:15 - 4:15 p.m. Campus Network Setup Assistance - IT staff will be available on a first come, first served basis to help you connect your computers, smartphones and gaming systems to the campus network. Activities Building, Parsons Wing Room 204
3:30 - 4:15 p.m. “Not Goodbye, Just See You Soon!” - Parents and students say their farewells.   Residence Halls
4:15 -5:00 p.m. Work-Study Orientation - This information session guides students eligible for work-study through the paperwork and responsibilities, and explains how to obtain a work-study position. Tozier Gymnasium
4:30 - 6:00 p.m. Dinner Wyman Commons
7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Residence Hall Programming: “Roommate Expectations” Residence Halls
8:00 p.m.
Not All of Maine Shuts Down at Eight - Trivia, prizes and free snacks. Come hang out!

Outdoor Activities Time to get outside and get active! Explore the Community Trails, meet a local game warden, try out a yoga class, and more. Check the sandwich board by the Student Center for various locations/details
Open Fall Sports Practices - Join the Unity Rams during practices for all fall sports teams.
Soccer Fields & Tozier Gymnasium
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Sandwich Bar Grab ‘n’ Go - Make your own sandwich and head outside for a picnic and to enjoy the festivities.

12:30 - 2:00 p.m.
Afternoon Fun Fest - An afternoon of games, music, and outdoor activities. 
Wyman Commons courtyard and outside Wood Hall
1:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Campus Network Setup Assistance – IT staff will be available on a first come, first served basis to help you connect your computers, smartphones and gaming systems to the campus network.

2:00 p.m.
Take Back the Tap! - Students will receive a stainless steel water bottle to encourage the use of tap water. An annual Unity College tradition.
