The Unity landfill is located a few miles from downtown Unity and the college. Students and faculty have been studying the effects of the landfill on groundwater and surface water since 1980. The landfill was closed and capped in 1991-1992. Every year, students will collect new data to determine whether the closure succeeded in protecting groundwater and surface water quality. |
We've started to collect new monitoring data! Check back soon for new and old water quality data and photos and students' studies of recent slumping of sediment around the landfill and leachate breakouts through the landfill cover.
