A page of places to look for jobs and job information on-line. This isn't nearly all of the ones you can find on the net, but is a list of some I've found interesting. Mentioning these here does not constitute endorsement of these sites by me, the college, or anybody else for that matter, but you might find them interesting too.
Jobs in Federal Government
Check
here for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management complete list of current
federal job openings, searchable by field and salary range. Most
jobs are open for only a short time, so check often and act fast if you
see one that looks good.
Searchable by keyword, location, and other criteria, this is a good listing of jobs in many fields nationwide. It's updated fairly often, but they don't take old ones off, so be sure to specify that you only want to see new jobs from the last week or two.
Search the want ads from newspapers nationwide; uses keywords to narrow your search criteria. You select the newspapers you want to search and how far back you want to search (up to two weeks). Don't pick more than five or six papers at a time, unless you either want to wait a long time or get an error message. Free registration gives you access to more advanced services.
Specialized for jobs in the natural sciences,
earth sciences, and environmental fields. This site is organized
by category and has listings for the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, and
New Zealand. Also has some listings of student research opportunities.
A site with links and other information for people
in environmental and health sciences, industrial hygiene, and the like.
CNET job search
A searchable site with lots of jobs in different fields, mostly in high-tech
it seems, and lots of information to help you. If you have any interest
in computers (including reviews, sales on hardware, etc.), computer games,
free software downloads, net publishing, and similar areas, spend time
exploring the CNET pages; they have a wealth of terrific information.
These are two sites with searchable databases, opportunities to post your resume' on-line, and lots of other services available, particularly if you take advantage of the free registration. They don't specialize in environmental areas, but may be worth a look.
