One of America’s premier environmental colleges will hold a spring open house on Saturday, March 9 to showcase its leading-edge majors for the growing “green” job market.
Unity College in Unity, Maine, known as America’s Environmental College, will hold the open house from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Activities include: a welcome from President Stephen Mulkey, an internationally-known scientist and leader in effort to mitigate global climate change; academic presentations; student testimonials; a community fair; archery and other athletic demonstrations; campus tours; a community fair; financial aid and student life information sessions; and lunch, along with a student club showcase.
Admissions interviews are available for high school seniors by appointment.
In recent years Unity College has gained national attention for a variety of achievements including for its focus on sustainability science, the leading-edge of 21st century ecological problem solving and the vanguard in the fight for the mitigation of global climate change, its ground-breaking “green” innovations such as the award-winning TerraHaus, the first student residence on a college or university campus built to the Passive House standard, the most energy efficient building standard in the world, and being the first college in the United States to divest from investments in fossil fuels, igniting a growing national movement in higher education.
