The first college in the nation to divest from investments in fossil fuels and adopt sustainability science as a focus for teaching and learning, will host Imagine Unity Slam for the Future, an Earth Week Poetry Slam, on April 26 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center.

Poets from across the United States will compete for prizes totaling $1,000.

The poetry slam is the second time in Maine poetry slam history that poets will compete for a large cash prize.  There are many poets from diverse backgrounds who are pre-registered, representing people from a variety of ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

At the slam, artists who have never read will offer their work alongside poets who already have national and international competition experience.

The event will include 1, 2, and 3-minute poetry rounds for all ages. Competitors may pre-register by e-mail at tnsmith09@gmail.com.
