A Unity College instructor is teaching several courses in wilderness medicine this spring, open to Unity College students and community members.

The courses are:

Wilderness First Responder Recertification. Saturday and Sunday, March 5–6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Fee: $195; $50 nonrefundable deposit due Jan. 25; final payment due Feb. 26.

Wilderness First Responder Certification. Saturday, March 26 to Friday, April 1, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. Fee: $550; $100 nonrefundable deposit due Feb. 1; final payment due March 11.

Wilderness First Aid. Saturday and Sunday, April 9–10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Fee: $165; $50 nonrefundable deposit due Feb. 8. Final payment due April 1.

The instructor, Nancy Zane, has been working in the field of adventure education for 25 years. Currently, she works in the Adventure Education Program at Unity College, where she teaches field-based skills courses such as Backpacking, Sea Kayaking, Winter Pursuits 1 & 2, Outdoor Cooking and Map & Compass. She also is responsible for coordinating relevant certifications for students as well as managing a co-curricular Leadership development program. In her spare time she is a Sea Kayak Guide in Castine and an instructor for SOLO School of Wilderness Medicine based in Conway, N.H.
