Photography of Cole Caswell Featured in the Leonard R. Craig Art Gallery
The Leonard R. Craig Gallery at Unity College will present an exhibijtion of photography by Cole Caswell entitled “The Act of becoming Visible” from January 19 through February 24. An opening reception will be held at the gallery on January 19 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available. Admission is free and open to the general public.
Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Caswell investigates landscape, place, environment, and geography through strata of observation, technology, subjectivity and his surroundings. He uses traditional, historic and digital photographic mediums: GPS, environmental data sets, augmented sampling procedures, clothing design and classification to investigate our present state.
He received an interdisciplinary M.F.A. from the Maine College of Art, and has been working, living and observing on Peaks Island three miles off the coast of Portland Maine. Over the last few years Cole has collaborated with the arts collective Spurse and the non-profit art organization Creative Material Group [CMG]. Recently he has lectured at The Maine College of Art, The University of Maine in Orono and Syracuse University’s School of Architecture. At the present time Caswell is exploring one’s ability to understand place and furthering his inquiry into emergent and experimental photographic processes, perspectives and applications.
