Unity College Bear Study visits Winter Dens

The Unity College Bear Study, in its third winter, visits winter dens and finds some surprises.

Unity College is conducting a black bear study with the approval of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife (MDIFW) investigating the presence of black bears in Central Maine. This multi-year project, involving dozens of Unity College faculty and students, aims to study the black bear population within Central Maine through multiple disciplines including: trapping, tracking, video monitoring, and DNA analysis.
