Jim Merkel, an Adjunct Instructor from the Center for Environmental Arts and Humanities, is featured in “RADICALLY simple”, a documentary produced by Jan Cannon of Jan Cannon Films. The film shows Merkel at work on his homestead as well as doing public presentations and leading workshops on foot printing, permaculture, money and other topics related to sustainability. The film airs on MPBN on Thursday, May 1 at 10:30 pm and again on Saturday, May 3 at 11:30 am.

Jim Merkel is the author of The Global Living Handbook (2000), Radical Simplicity (2003), and Simplicidad Radical (2005). Merkel currently writes, lectures and consults on sustainability initiatives. He initiated the “Cycling for a Sustainable Future” speaking tour that has logged over 17,000 miles delivering lectures and workshops at over 40 colleges and universities. Merkel has led over 1,000 workshops and has lectured at dozens of universities on personal and institutional sustainability.

In early August, Merkel will be teaching a summer course at Unity College, Society and Sustainability–Biking Maine.
