Housing Application and Selection Process
Incoming students living on campus should complete the housing questionnaire available on their student portal as soon as it is made available.
Housing for Incoming Students
Students need to fill out the online housing questionnaire on the student portal. It is important to fill out the housing questionnaire accurately because it is used in matching roommates and residences. If students have a specific roommate in mind, please enter that person’s name as the first roommate choice.
The Office of Residence Life begins placing incoming students into housing during the last week of May. Only incoming students who have returned their housing questionnaires are placed at this time, given that the information on the questionnaire is used to match roommates. Students will then receive a notice via the Unity College email system informing the student of housing placement as well as the names of their roommate(s), including contact information. When the student receives access to the Unity College student portal, this information can also be found under housing. Students are strongly encouraged to contact their assigned roommate before arriving on campus, in order to begin to get to know one another and figure out who is bringing what for the room.
Residence Hall Move-in Date and Process
If a student is on the last Nova trip of the summer (August 20 through 24), he or she will be moving into their residence hall room before the trip on Sunday, August 19. Check-in is from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. When students arrive on campus, they should go to TerraHaus. The director of residence life will be there to greet students and direct them to their residence halls. If a student feels that he or she will arrive after 1:00 p.m., please contact the director of residence life in advance.
All other incoming students will be moving into their residence hall rooms on Friday, August 24, at the start of New Student Experience. Check-in is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. When students arrive on campus, they should go directly to their residence halls. If a student feels that he or she will arrive after 12:00 p.m., please contact the director of residence life in advance.
When students arrive at their residence halls, they should look for their RAs—who will be wearing a light blue polo shirt—who will show students to their rooms and make appropriate introductions.
The RA will help students with the check-in form: students will need to check their room against the form, noting any differences. When the student has finished reviewing the form, they should return it to your RA, who will then issue a key to the room and answer any questions. At this point, the student may then begin to move his or her personal belongings into the room.
