Unity College May 2020 Commencement Information
Graduation Date and Time:
Unity College will hold its 2020 Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9 starting at 11 a.m. in Tozier Gymnasium. Doors will open at 9:45 a.m.
Arriving and Directions:
Graduates are to arrive no later than 10:15 a.m. and will meet in the Koons Hall Parking Lot. There will be a group photo at 10:30 in the field in front of Koons Hall. After the photo, students will line up and prepare for the processional that will start at 10:55 sharp!
Everyone attending the commencement will need a ticket. Graduates receive an email in early March to register for tickets. The number of tickets per graduate is determined by the size of the graduating class. Watch your email for details. Parents, relatives, and friends may not request tickets. Tickets may only be requested by the graduates.
Cap and Gown for Flagship Students
All student wear cap and gowns to commencement. Cap and gowns are black. Business formal attire is recommended under the regalia. Cap and gowns for Flagship students can be picked up in the campus store a couple of weeks before Commencement. Leigh Juskevice will send an email when the cap and gowns are in and ready to be picked up.
Cap, Gown, and Hood for Distance Education Students
Your regalia will be mailed to you, so make sure you bring this with you for the ceremony. If you are receiving a master’s degree, you will need to bring the hood, but not wear it. It will be placed on you at the ceremony.
Cords / Stoles:
Any student receiving a cord or stole will receive it at the Senior Awards Ceremony on Thursday morning. For anyone who is unable to attend the ceremony, please make arrangements with Laura Reed (email@example.com) to obtain your cords after the ceremony on Thursday or Friday.
Degrees and honors:
Graduates will receive a diploma cover at the ceremony. Once grades are finalized, diplomas will be mailed to graduates home address. The valedictorian will be announced at the commencement ceremony.
Do I have to apply for graduation?
Yes. Students must apply for graduation by February 15. Students who apply for graduation are charged a $100 fee whether they participate in the ceremony or not. This fee includes purchase of your cap and gown along with costs associated with the diploma.
Unity College will stream the 2020 Commencement Ceremony on its Facebook page. The feed will start just prior to the ceremony.
There will be signs and public safety officers assisting with parking once people arrive on campus.
Hockmeyer studio will take photos of graduates. They will send information to the home address of graduates prior with information on purchasing photos. Unity College staff will also take photos throughout the day and will post a photo gallery on Facebook a few days following the ceremony.
Following commencement, there will be a reception with food and beverages outside of Tozier Gymnasium. Parents, families, and friends are encouraged to stay and celebrate with the graduates.
Danni Washington will be Unity College’s commencement speaker for May 9, 2020. Danni Washington is the host of TV’s Xploration Nature Knows Best and co-founder of Big Blue & You, a nonprofit organization dedicated built to inspire and educate young people about ocean conservation using media and the arts.
