The Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund, was established to provide education assistance for postsecondary study to members of families impacted by events of September 11. Insurance – December 1, 2017 is proud to introduce a new scholarship promoting motorcycle safety among students. The Look Twice, Save a Life Scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to any student who is currently attending or planning to attend college or some form of higher education. The Maine Educational Loan Authority offers Maine students two $2500 scholarships. Applicants sign up on the MELA website at and are then entered into random drawings. To be eligible, students must be current undergraduate or graduate college students or high school seniors planning to pursue a two or four year degree. The MELA scholarship is fast and easy with no long application, no essay, send recommendations or demonstrate financial need.



MES manages six scholarships for various organizations. The Maine trade women Network Scholarship, the Maine state Legislature Memorial Scholarship, and the masonic Scholarship for Continuing Education, application materials can be obtained in the financial aid office. OPPU Achievers Scholarship

To apply for the OppU Achievers Scholarship, submit a short essay responding to the prompted question. Scholarship decisions are based solely on an applicant’s essay response. Winners for the OppU Achievers Scholarship are selected four times a year, with submission deadlines on September 30, December 31, March 31, and June 30.
