Jonathan Gibbons has been hired to the post of Sustainability Engagement & Data Coordinator
Gibbons will identify and track sustainability metrics for multiple analysis and reporting purposes to help reach the goals of the college Strategic Plan.
Reporting to Chief Sustainability Officer Jennifer deHart, the coordinator also develops and delivers outreach and communications for college-wide sustainability programs, projects, initiatives, and events.
As a member of the Sustainability Office, Jonathan will supervise the student Sustainability Ambassadors and work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff to support and promote activities that build awareness and foster participation in personal and institutional sustainability.
Jonathan holds a B.S. in Environmental Geosciences with a minor in Environmental Studies from The State University of New York at Buffalo, where he worked in the Office of Sustainability in 2013, providing counsel and decision assistance for key sustainability issues, helping broker ongoing partnerships, working to implement energy management and tracking dashboard software for the entire campus, helping run and organize sustainability film series, and other duties. He also is certified as a LEED Green Associate by the US Green Building Council.
He said, “I believe that my academic background, earnest and hardworking nature, my commitment to educating myself to all things related to sustainability and the environment, and my previous involvement with sustainability on a college campus provide a strong base on which to rely” in the position.
“Jonathan transmits a positive energy to his work with students and other stakeholders, and brings a passion for data-driven problem-solving that will serve Unity College’s mission and goals,” says deHart.
Jonathan begins his new position on Jan. 28, 2016.
